$500 Jar Savings Challenge

The Printable $500 Jar Savings Challenge

My inspiration for this savings challenge was to save money in a jar and of course I had to add butterflies. I always provide ideas for storing savings money, so why not make this a literal challenge! You can save your challenge money in a jar to go along with this challenge.

There are 25 images on the savings tracker and each image has a savings amount. The amounts on the tracker vary from $5 to $50. This challenge is very self-paced and can even be completed as a biweekly savings challenge. It’s perfect for a holiday savings challenge.

How to Complete the Savings Challenge

The $500 Jar Savings Challenge is a color and save by numbers tracker. That means that each time that you save an amount on the tracker, color in the circle that has that amount.

This will help you to track your savings progress and see how close you are to completing the challenge! You can also cross out the numbers, check them, place stickers over them, and whatever else you decide. The main goal is to save and don’t stop until all of the amounts are colored in!

Create a Savings Plan

I want to share a tip that I use to ensure that I complete my savings challenges by my savings goal date. I create a savings plan. This is what my savings plan includes:

  • Savings Goal Amount
  • Savings Goal Date
  • How Often I will Add Money to My Savings Challenge to Meet My Savings Goal Date (Weekly, Biweekly, or Monthly)
  • How Much Money I will Add to My Savings Challenge

= Savings Goal Amount/ number of times you will add money to challenge

For example, I want to set a goal of completing the $500 Jar Savings Challenge in five weeks.  I want to add money to the challenge each week.

  • Goal Amount = $500
  • Savings Goal Date = 5 weeks
  • How Often I will Add Money to Challenge = Each Week (5 times total)
  • How Much I Will Add Each Week = $500/5 (# times I add money) = $100

My savings plan shows that I will need to add $100 to the savings challenge each week to reach my savings goal amount and date.

Go For It!

It’s time to go for it and reach your savings goals! You may want to take a break while completing this savings challenge or stop completely. Pausing due to a financial setback or having other priorities is okay, but try to come back and complete the challenge after everything else is settled.

I can’t tell you how many times I have paused my money savings plans because life happened. My car got a flat tire, and the brakes needed to be replaced. I went into the dental office for a routine checkup and was told that I needed a four-figure procedure. I had to stop my savings progress to handle these unexpected expenses.

But this made me more determined than ever to save. I became serious about saving money because I was tired of not having enough savings to cover emergencies.

I DECIDED TO GO FOR IT. No matter what was going on I made it a rule to save each pay period. Don’t give up on saving money or reaching any of your goals. YOU CAN DO THIS!
