It became something that I was used to, and that I thought was part of being an adult. I thought that having a car loan, credit cards, and student loan debt was something that would follow me for life, but then I joined the budgeting community, and my outlook has changed!
I read so many debt free stories and connected with amazing people who are on a debt free journey like me. I even started a business centered around budgeting, saving money, and paying off debt. I learned that IT IS POSSIBLE TO BE DEBT FREE!

Debt Payoff TrackerThe Printable Debt Payoff Tracker
I created the Debt Payoff Tracker because I asked my social media followers what their goals were for the year. Most of the answers that I received were about paying off debt and saving money. I have plenty of saving challenges, budgeting sheets, and goal trackers on my site. But I realized that having a fun way to track debt payoff could help others on their debt free journey.
I use a spreadsheet to track my debt progress, but that gets BORING. I love savings challenges, so I thought why couldn’t there be a way to track my debt payoff the same way. That’s how the debt payoff tracker was created. I want you to have a fun and easy way to see your progress.
How to Complete the Debt Payoff Tracker
This debt tracker is simple to fill out. I will break it down into five steps:
- Write the Debt Name on the top line
- Calculate Your Total Debt = Write the total in the ‘Amount’ section
- Calculate the Amount of Each Image = Total Debt Amount / 24 (Since there are 24 images on the tracker you will divide your total debt amount by 24. Round this number up if it is a long decimal.)
- Color in An Image Each time that You Save the Image Amount
- Keep Going Until the Tracker is Completed!
Example:
If you have a Car Loan that you owe $10,000, this is how you would complete the tracker:
- Debt Amount: $10,000
- Each Image: $10,000/ 24 = $417 (Rounded)
- Each Time that I pay off $417 of this debt I color in an image
- After I have Paid off Each Image Amount ($417) and Colored in the Images the debt will be paid!

Why Do You Want to Be Debt Free?
It’s exciting when you are starting out on your debt free journey. Your motivation may be at an all time high and you are ready to crush it! But as time goes on you may not feel as happy to keep going on this debt free journey. KEEP GOING ANYWAY!
You cannot focus on your feelings because they may stop you from reaching your goals. FOCUS ON YOUR WHY! Your why is the reason that you want to be debt free. It is that thing that you want so bad that you are willing to put in the work even when you don’t feel like it. Your WHY will keep you focused and disciplined to do what is necessary to reach your goal.
Every time that I want to give up, which is honestly daily, I focus on my why. I know that I am tired of living with the burden of debt and want to be free to do more of the things that I love. To travel more, give more, and just live more. Your why may be different from mine, but it should be something that makes you determined to pay off your debt.
