A couple of weeks ago, I created a free cash breakdown sheet and slip, and everyone loved it! I have received feedback on how the trackers made the cash envelope stuffing a breeze!

The reason that I create my trackers is to make saving money fun and easy. I don’t believe that budgeting should feel like a chore. That’s why I have put processes into place to reduce stress and make budgeting enjoyable.

So, I wanted to kick off the month with a tracker that I have been using to prep for my savings challenge stuffings. A Savings Challenge Breakdown Sheet. And of course I am giving it to you as a FREEBIE! To get your Free Cash Breakdown Sheet, click the link below to begin the download!

Savings Challenges Breakdown Sheet

The Printable Savings Challenge Breakdown Sheet

This savings challenges breakdown sheet will help you to prepare to add money to your savings challenges for each pay period. I wanted a tracker that I could use while I am stuffing my savings challenges. I needed a way to quickly see which savings challenges I was doing and how much I was adding to each challenge. I also wanted it to be based on my paycheck date and know the total amount that I am stuffing.

Since I am active on social media, I record myself stuffing my savings challenges. I can’t tell you how many times I have gotten off track or confused during a video due to not being prepared. This savings challenge breakdown helped me to focus on what savings challenges I was adding money to and the amounts. I even included a balance column on the sheet so that you can write the new balance of each savings challenge!

How to Use the Savings Challenge Breakdown Sheet

This sheet is easy to complete, and I suggest doing this before you do your cash breakdown sheet. The amounts on this sheet will determine how much money you will need for your savings challenges. It’s easier to withdraw your money for your sinking funds and savings challenges at once because who wants to keep going to the bank. 😊

Here are the steps:

  1. Write Your Pay Date in the indicated top section.
  2. Go to the first Column ‘Challenge Name’. Here you will list each savings challenge that you will be adding money to for this paycheck or pay date.
  3. Go to the ‘Amount’ Column and Fill In the Amounts for each Savings Challenge. This is how much you will add for each savings challenge.
  4. At the bottom of the page there is a line named ‘Total’. Go through the ‘Amount’ column from top to bottom and add the total  of those amounts on that bottom line.
  5. Write the Total Amount on the Top Section named ‘Amount Stuffing $’. This is the total amount of money that you will be adding to your savings challenges.

*This is the amount that you will add to your cash breakdown sheet for your Savings Challenges. Or you can list each savings challenge and the amount on the cash breakdown sheet.

After you have gone to the bank and put the money into your savings challenges, you can fill in the ‘Balance’ Column. This is optional. I fill it out because I keep track of how much money I add to my challenges weekly.

  1. Go to the column named ‘Balance’. Go through each of your savings challenges and write the new balances for each challenge.
  2. Add up the balances in this column from top to bottom. At the bottom of the sheet on the “Totals’ row write the total amount of your balances.

How Often Do You Add Money to Savings Challenges?

Since we all have different financial situations, I won’t tell you how often you SHOULD add money to your savings challenges. I will first tell you what works for me and how often I add money to my savings challenges.

I have a category in my budget for savings challenges. This amount depends on my savings goals for the month. I decide which savings challenges I plan to do for the month and add up the total amount of the savings challenges. I then put that amount in my budget as ‘Savings Challenges’.

I get paid weekly, so this is how often I add money to my savings challenges. I try to add $100 to $200 a week to my savings challenges. I focus on low savings amounts because they keep me motivated. They add up over time and give me the fire to keep saving.

If you are not able to add money to your savings challenges on a regular basis, such as each paycheck. THAT IS OKAY. When I began saving money I didn’t have anything extra to add. I would aim to save $50 a month, but even that was stretching it. There are still times when I have extra money from side hustles or my cash envelope unstuffing and there are times when I don’t have extra money. With that being said, here’s my tip for adding money to your savings challenges:

ADD MONEY TO YOUR SAVINGS CHALLENGES WHEN YOU CAN. DO NOT STRESS ABOUT IT.

It’s supposed to be fun and something that you look forward to. Do the best that you can with what you have. Start with a low savings challenge such as $25-$50 and go from there.
